- <p>The <em><strong>garrofal pea</strong></em> is one of the most appreciated varieties of this vegetable. The Barcelona trading records show that it’s been grown in the Maresme region <strong>since at least the 17th century</strong>. Planting begins in around October and picking starts in April, which is when Sant Andreu de Llavaneres celebrates the <strong>Pea Festival</strong>. During the festival you can savour the tastiest dishes, buy peas directly from producers and take part in a gala dinner.</p>
